  • very nice. question, michael: how is eureka gold like a “spongebath band”? i’ve listened to a fair amount of them and just don’t hear it yet. they’re not bad, though.

  • I didn’t come up with the description “Spongebath band” but I tend to agree with it. Unfortunately, that term now has a negative connotation to it if you’re familiar with the history of the label but there was a time when it meant upbeat pop rock combined with a bit of a heads up to previous styles (Features = Kinks type comparisons). It’s not a blanket statement but I could see them being on the label and having been a good fit.

  • “spongebath” will always be a good association for me. in their prime they had the best roster of any label in the world, and if nothing else, they knew how to present things (bottcher’s artwork was always brilliant). promotion, not so much, but they understand the importance of presentation, for sure…
