This may have been more appropriate to encounter before Halloween but who am I to shy away from some 80’s inspired goth / nu-wave / pop / dance tracks any time of year? It’s got a little bit of that New Order vocal flare mixed with some Cure style longing all over the place. Those are hefty reference points but they’re just touchstones so you know what you’re getting into. It’s great to know that Nashville is offering the kind of music that blends teenage morose feelings with endless hope for undying love. It’s quite enjoyable.

This is what happens when you give Amerigo Gazaway a flash drive full of samples.
I’d like to start a new feature here on WOTT giving a bit of credit to artists that have moved here from other areas and now permanently reside here. Interlopers Made Good. It seems appropriate to start off said recurring column with The Ettes – the LA-trio with a bevy of great music videos and a solid discography. If you haven’t heard their latest, Wicked Will, cruise on over to Rdio or Spotify to check it out. There’s plenty of garage-inspired rock bands around town but The Ettes maintain a rather dark undertone to all their offerings – an excellent concoction of psychedelic dance-y songs and slit-your-throat-when-you’re-not-looking vocals.
