If you were not aware, the Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities non-profit (YEAH! for short) host a number of endeavors aimed at educating youth on the practicalities of creating music and forging a community among those who participate. If you’ve lived in the Nashville area for any amount of time you’ve likely heard of Southern Girls Rock Camp and Tennessee Teens Rock Camps, two such undertakings aimed at young women and teens of all genders; respectively.
What you might not know is that YEAH! also hosts comps for Adults. While the primary goal of the non-profit may be youth focused, there’s opportunity for education and empowerment across all ages. Registration is now open for Ladies Rock Camp, a three-day condensed camp that takes place over in the Trolley Barns on Lea Avenue. Here’s the rundown:
A condensed rock camp for all 18+ women and non-binary adults who want to come rock out with us. You will learn an instrument, form a band, write a song, and perform at a showcase.
Throughout the weekend, we will be having band performances, inspiring workshops, and discussing our favorite topics (feminism, empowerment, social and racial justice, intersectionality, etc).
The camp takes place October 18-20, 2019, culminating in a showcase on Sunday evening of the new bands that have been formed. Registrations are $150 but can be paid in installments, are tax deductible and function as a donation to YEAH!. It’s a Win-Win-Win all around.
