Remarkably goddamn solid all the way through. I thought Hotpipes were pretty great at 8 Off 8th the other night. And I regret that I never got to see The Bang Up.
Thu June 8, 2006 at 4:32 amhahaha, that poet named revolver track is so druggy and hilarious and awesome.
Thu June 8, 2006 at 10:57 amThe Bang Up never got the acclaim or press that they truly deserved. I thought they were the best band in the boro.
Thu June 8, 2006 at 12:37 pmAPNR and Hotpipes was a nice one-two combo. I’m mad I never took the chance to see the former. The latter sounds like some of their strongest work to date. I’m excited!
Thu June 8, 2006 at 2:59 pmAPNR are still around and active, it seems (check out their tour dates). the bang up are the broken-up ones.
Thu June 8, 2006 at 8:24 pmand yeah, transition between them and the APNR track is really seamless and beautiful. i love the keyboard sound those guys have on that song. very haunting and beautiful.
Fri June 9, 2006 at 7:39 amI found We Own This Town on YouTube today. I found YouTube today. I mean, I knew it was there, I had heard about it and had seen people “embedding” videos on to MySpace pages, but I had never been to youtube.com. Wooo. This, among other things, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx0uBRPBxR0
Fri July 7, 2006 at 10:02 pmthe new Town is looking good, by the way.
Fri July 14, 2006 at 7:03 pmWhere the hell is some new content? Throw us a bone Doug.. no one wants to start visiting NashvilleJuice.com!
Wed July 19, 2006 at 12:33 pmyeah, seriously. or just hire some other writers…
Wed July 19, 2006 at 8:47 pmAlso, were there NO shows this week? I posted the Cold War Kids / Sound Team show but wasn’t aware of anything else going on? can we have a thread or a common feedback email that lets people submit show listings? we can be selective about what actually makes the site but I have a hard time believing it’s that slow in Nashville during the summer (though given the recent heat it is entirely possible).
Thu July 20, 2006 at 1:50 amhey i’ve been busy… go check myspace.
i never said this was a news site. it’s a podcast.
which btw way i’ll have a new videocast up in the next few days. as soon as i figure out google video. youtube has a 10min limit.
Thu July 20, 2006 at 4:29 pmwhich also reminds me, i’ve wanted to post local album reviews/show reviews and i’ve asked a couple people with nobody actually following through.
so if anyone wants to submit cd/show reviews, please feel free. and if you want it to be anonymous we can do that too.
(use the contact form)
