Volume 3.5 (video)

We Own This Town #3.5

WOTT #3.5 is a companion to WOTT #3. We shot some interview-esque material around the same time. but wanted to keep the running time and file size of #3 small.

Besides, #3.5 is better on it’s own because it doesn’t make much sense.

  • I don’t know, I thought it was pretty entertaining, particularly the car tour. Very reminiscent of MTV Cribs.

I get that “Quiero, Quieres” means “I want, you want”, but I think “quiero quieres” might mean “I want WHAT you want”. Ah, the difference a comma makes.

  • carl is a clever one.

the zz top quote from the carters was hilarious, so much that it’s currently residing in my away message on AIM. the awkward silence after jay’s comment that abruptly segues into beth’s bit made me crack up, too. i thought this was great.

  • okay, so here’s the thing… fucking jay “jibbers” phillips is an only child and thinks that he is the creator of all these things, like “music”, and “pussy”. well, i am here to say that he is not! he is especially not the creator of the use of “word” in “our little group of friends.” he and i have had this arguement so many fucking times now but he seems to have the upper hand by being in this podcast and having his thoughts go out to everyone. YOU DON’T WIN, JIB! the fact is that i’ve been saying “word” since before i even met jay… i’m talking like back in high school. and to further aggravate this tender spot, i don’t even remember hearing him say “word” at all, EVER.

i would challenge him to a video duel but fuck that, i’m not gonna play his game. i want to see the word “WORD” free! do it with me, everyone, and let jibbers know that his claim on word is wrong and unfair and we won’t stand for it!

and what’s the deal with that mesh hats thing? i think maybe all the apollo ups are screwy.

  • HAHAH! hilarious! i love these people.

    todd! seriously a funny motherfucker.

and AU!! love it. (jay. i have to also assert that i was saying word before i even knew you. it has cycled in and out of lingo for years now, starting with the longer version “word UP”. . .however, whether or not you had influence on the frequency of use of the word “word” in your immediate group is in a word, unknown. word? word.)

and i also love the spanish grammar lesson. that’s a tricky one!

long live theory 8. much love.

  • Holy Fuck!….and I thought the Ford Focus Hatch Back was the king of all cars.(or should i say queen)

    Wed April 26, 2006 at 1:46 am
  • Yes, yes. I don’t doubt that people said “word” before they met me. I just figured since I listen to more hip-hop than either of you and that Jer would not lower himself to speak such primitive “jive” that maybe you wouldn’t say it as often if I didn’t say it so much. Word?

  • RE: Mesh hats/trucker hats: that’s what Mike calls them. I think most people call them trucker hats. I remember when we played with the Mercury Program several years ago, they asked me if we were a southern rock band because Mike & I were wearing those hats. So yes, it was before their association with hipsters.

  • Not that I feel that strongly about any of what was said. We were seriously struggling for something to talk about.
