The Momcult is officially on YouTube! Join us as we chatted over zoom with Nicole Lim — Nashville based makeup artist turned director, screenwriter, and producer! Joy is feeling anxious about getting her shit together and Sarah is more at peace with baby #2.
For this first episode of Season Six, the gals discuss the hopes of expanding the Momcult Brand and Nichole shares everything from the pull and pray years, finding out you’re pregnant on Christmas morning, and pumping on a film set 3 weeks postpartum. We also got into the real stuff — what it’s like when your husband tours for weeks at a time and you have to build a shell to survive him being gone, then peel it back off when he walks back through the door. The kids change while he’s away. You change. And somehow you have to find your way back to each other every single time.
Nichole is the creative partner Joy met at the Nashville Film Festival last year, and together they’re developing Joy’s “I’m A Winner” short film into an episodic series.

About our guest:
Nichole Lim is a Nashville-based director, screenwriter, and producer with more than fifteen years in the film industry. She began her career in the makeup department, eventually becoming an IATSE Local 798 Key Makeup Artist and working across studio features, independent films, television, and commercials before moving behind the camera herself.
Her films have screened nationally and internationally, including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Nashville Film Festival, and Defy Film Festival, earning recognition for both directing and screenwriting.
Nichole loves ensemble casts, female-driven stories, and complicated, imperfect characters. She’s endlessly interested in why people are the way they are, the things they don’t say, and the relationships that shape them, especially when it’s funny, awkward, heartbreaking, or somehow all three. She lives in Nashville with her husband and two kids, where she is usually writing something, making something, or standing in a room trying to remember why she went in there.
