Days after we posted our Halloween spooktacular in 2021, a brand new compilation dropped from To-Go Records. It was unfortunate timing because the seven tracks included in the sampler are an excellent addition to any Halloween collection. Fortunately, music is timeless, so you’ve got plenty of time to enjoy this one through the end of this month and beyond.
Six of the seven tracks are from Nashville based bands with the seventh being a To-Go Records artist from Louisville. All told; very local so you know it’s up our alley. Bats, Ohphelia, Morgan, Impediment, Heaven Honey and Routine Caffeine take on covers of “Screamin’ Jay” Hawkins, Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age, Scooby Doo, Leon Payne, and Donovan respectively. Iven’s offering of “The Reaper is a Scary Guy” is partially a cover of Blue Oyster Cult but with somewhat altered lyrics.
It’s unclear if there will be a 2022 version of this compilation or not but based on the offerings contained here, we’d be very open to it being a yearly tradition.
