Jordan XX has been, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating hip-hop artists emerging from Nashville. That’s not to say there aren’t many intriguing artists in the genre coming from Music City but Jordan XX always manage to bring something markedly different. His 2022 EP LAND OF THE FREE is a swirl of sound, deeply embedded in ambient soundscapes and dark overtones. The standalone single “The Verse About Nothing” is a laid back groove with XX’s intimate and observation flow firmly entrenching the listener.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce the latest standalone single “The Curse.” The backing beat is a bopping bass, jazz-y snare and gentle Rhodes juxtaposed against Jordan XX’s endless flow ebbing and flowing through rising anxiety and laid back observation. It’s just barely over 2 minutes long but it manages to burrow in your brain despite the short runtime.
There’s no predicting what Jordan XX will bring to the table and that’s what makes him one to watch. His beat selection is always unique, his flow is decidedly his own and he’s not afraid to collaborate or try new styles. “The Curse” is yet another bit of evidence that you’ve got to be paying attention to Jordan XX.
