Luisa Lopez Lake Fever Session

I’m glad to see that the Lake Fever Sessions are willing to branch out and record sessions from musicians / artists / songwriters / what-have-you that don’t fit into the standard rock / indie-rock mold. Luisa Lopez melds country-western and soul into some dense tales of life. Joe Colvert says it best in his writeup:

These songs get to the core of what makes us human: love, lovers, loss, pain, redemption… the heaviest of subjects. These songs, well, they come with a burden.

You can hear that burden in her voice and it’s that legitimacy that keeps you listening.

Luisa Lopez Session on the way

At first glance you may think that the teaser for the forthcoming Lake Fever Sessions by Luisa Lopez is a bit of a switch-up, a divergence from the typical rock / indie rock. And in that respect, you’d be right. However, seems to me that quality music is quality music – and they’re staying the course in that regard. Looking forward to the full set debuting this Friday.
