Slowmotions – Quick Potions

wott_slowmotions

The debut record from Slowmotions is now available for free download or on limited edition CD (stocked at Grimeys and The Groove as well). But who is Slowmotions? It’s the product of late night, dream induced musings of one Andrew Brassell – best known as one-third of And The Relatives.

Quick Potions is sixteen tracks of electronics, heavy personal sampling and traditional pop/rock structures all mixed together. It’s not an easy album to pin down but it’s filled with instrumental segues transitioning between ethereal pop tracks and, personally, I couldn’t recommend it enough. Granted, it’s the fifth release from my little label experiment but who said we can’t be biased?

Long story short, there’s a full album of great tracks from an artist that’s been featured on previous WOTT podcasts that you can get entirely for free. You should do so now.

D. Striker / Powerload / Dirtbot / Tom House

RR presents:
D. Striker
Powerload
(AC/DC tribute band fronted by Doug Lehmann of The Clutters)
Dirtbot
(new band of old pros making their debut – featuring those Tugboat video guys Josh Lagersen and Andy Synder, Brandes Holcomb of Alcohol Stuntband, Lance of Fall City Angels, Andy Schenck of The Squibs)
Tom House
“If there’s a reincarnation of Woody Guthrie’s unique sprit and talents, it’s not Steve Earle, not Springsteen, not Dylan, but Tom House. His abilities and purity are untouched in the wasteland of artists our current culture serves up,” -RB Morris

Turbo Fruits take on BBC Radio

wott_turbovote

Occasionally the opportunity arises to help out a local band in a foreign country. It’s not commonplace but it is a call that should be heeded when the alarm is sounded. Such is the case with Turbo Fruits and the BBC. They’ve been nominated by the Radcliffe and Maconie Show for song of the week and the judgment on if they actually receive a fair amount of airplay is up to user submissions. So, you should head over to their contact page and drop them a quick line saying your vote is for Turbo Fruits – “Naked with You.” It’s a small bit of giving back but a worthwhile one don’t you think?

Say Aloha! to Diarrhea Planet

diarrhea planet

They’ve been written about over at The Cream, mused about by Mr. D. Patrick Rodgers and even played a handful of shows. But who is Diarrhea Planet? Their internet presence doesn’t lead to a whole lot of information but it does yield a link to this blog; complete with a post to download their new EP Aloha! entirely for free. It’s a rawkus, loose, fun bit of rock and roll that likely lends itself to a great live show. It’s always enjoyable to encounter a band that gets the energy of a rock show but still hints at the fundamentals of sing-along pop jam. Go download Aloha!.
