Action! Video Call To Arms
It’s no secret that I think the debut album from Action!, Friend Weakend, is one of the finer things to come out of the Nashville music scene in some time so when they reached out to me about doing something special for their forthcoming November 19th vinyl release show I was flattered to try and help. Here’s the deal – the band wants to have videos to accompany them during their release show on the 19th and need your help to make it happen. They’ve setup an informative page to give you the lowdown but all you really need to know is that you can make a video to be projected behind them for any song other than “Sandpiper” (Tugboat Productions has that one covered). The best and brightest entries will be shown during the show and posted here on We Own This Town (not to mention plenty of other Internet sites).
I know what you’re thinking – isn’t this potentially free video work for an emerging band? Yes, it is but that doesn’t have to have a negative spin to it (don’t be so cranky). Ideally you enjoy the album as much as we do and also enjoy an extra-curricular activity or two. This would be the perfect fit.
Go pick a song, notify the band of your pick and get to it!
Lake Fever Sessions: Destry
Destry: Lake Fever Sessions
“Leave the Light On”
I’ll be completely honest, up until about 15 seconds ago – whenever I saw the name “Destry” written out I read it as Deastro – an electronic act on Ghostly International. Turns out, Destry is not the same band. In fact, they’re much different – more of a folk / Americana / pop / sullen 60’s style. So, I may not have been expecting that particular sound but I’m not opposed to it.
This also marks the first Lake Fever Session in some time. Since relocating out of their studio space on Music Row, the influx of sessions has pretty much ceased. The kind fellows behind the whole thing have taken it upon themselves to finish up the few lingering sessions left in the archives while a plan is formulated to decipher what the next step will be.
In the meantime, enjoy the session.

Willbury: I think the #1 way to break the "Nashville Curse" is to stop sitting around talking about the "Nashville Curse."
