BalconyTV – Brendan Benson

Every undertaking seems to have a moment when they earn their legitimacy. For example, when the mostly defunct Lake Fever Sessions unveiled their recordings with St. Vincent they seemed to “be on the map” from that point forward.

In the interest of positivity, I’m going to say that Brendan Benson doing a song for BalconyTV is their time to put the proverbial stake in the ground. I would suggest the host do a little research in the future (he’s a bit oblivious to the three solo albums Benson released prior to Raconteurs) but that’s all part of finding their place. It’s a good performance and serves as a legit reason to keep an eye on the BalconyTV project as a whole; even if it is a lot of performances to sort through.

And the Relatives – Green Machinery

It’s been almost two full years since the release of And the Relatives EP Animals and, with that in mind, I am proud to announce that their full-length album, Green Machinery, is now available in both digital format and limited edition vinyl (and on sale at Grimey’s). It’s release is courtesy of yk records and Theory 8 Records so I’m a little biased when it comes to the recommendation – I think the album is one of the best of the year and improves every time I listen to it.

My bias aside, please take some time to listen to the album and consider a purchase.. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Action! – “Remember This One”

Have I been posting an awful lot about Action! lately? Yes, yes I have. However, with their vinyl release of Friend Weakend having passed this weekend I couldn’t not mention the fact that all their fan made videos were screened? Sure, you probably already saw it posted about on The Cream but I’m working with a limited amount of input here, so cut me a break. The above video, Seth Graves creation for “Remember This One“, is my personal favorite but I was pretty blown away by the amount of creativity and skills people showed putting together videos from any number of sources. I’m told all of the videos will make their way up on the Action Vimeo Channel in the next few days, so keep an eye on that if you happened to miss their debut.
