Forget Cassettes – Daytrotter Session
Very stripped down performance but it’s a nice something different from the album recordings.
Ridiculous.
For a band the re-released their wonderful first album, Our Mother Electricity, because of remastering and fidelity concerns, it seems strange that they would follow it up with a lo-fi dual room mic recording. But who am I to question their motives?! Maybe they’re getting back to their roots? Or maybe they knew the guitar sound was particularly perfect when it comes in that thick.

It’ll be out late July, but you can hear the first track in a video I made by clicking the link in my profile. Vid includes ‘80s bikini contests, making out in cars, Inside Edition-era Bill O’Reilly and more. Oh, and my bud Travis Lane plays bass on this track, “Some Kind of Inlet or Something.”
yet? Conceptually, it’s an interview show with local bands – plain and simple. In execution, it’s like Wayne’s World raised on Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show (Great Job). It’s obviously coming from a place of passion but it doesn’t shy away from being intentionally awkward. That’s not a bad thing.
There are fourteen episodes at this time and they manage to talk to a strong list of artists: Turbo Fruits, Birdcloud, Promised Land, Ducko McFli, and Torres among them. Hopefully this is ongoing and continues to spiral down the rabbit hole.
comes This EPÂ – a collection of four songs presumably from the same sessions as a forthcoming full-length (that’s a total assumption). It’s lovely indie pop with just the right twinge of melancholy; my favorite combo.
