I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not but PANGS is all over the place lately. Recently they released their cover of “Cannonball†and they’ve quickly followed it with two new songs, both at opposite ends of the spectrum. WASTER is an instrumental trap song and “Home on the Range†is breezy, bedroom pop cover of the classic traditional tune.
All Them Witches – Live in Brussels
Get your fix on the wall-of-sound that is All Them Witches with their latest recording from Brussels. If history has taught us anything, this won’t be up for too long, so nab it quick.
repeat repeat - “Plugged Inâ€
I know this came out at the end of last month and I’m totally slacking in sharing it here but let’s agree to just chalk this up as a great reminder that the video is badass and should be rewatched if you’ve already seen it.
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle
Mark Graves was kind enough to capture this performance of John Davis, Matt Mahaffey and Sam Powers cover from the recent Mercy Lounge Nirvana tribute show.Â
You can also watch Mahaffey take lead on Negative Creep.
Protomen – Light Up the Night Trailer
Holy shit this trailer for the forthcoming 16 minute short film from The Protomen looks every bit as epic as it should look. Can not wait.
William Tyler - “Highway Anxietyâ€
Watch and listen to the 9 minute opus from William Tyler, off his latest Merge Records release, Modern Country.
BRiLeY – the search
Total honesty policy, I don’t have the musical language to speak about the merits of a largely instrumental hip-hop album. What I can say, is that I like what I’m hearing and have blasted the album on repeat multiple times. That’s gotta stand for something.
Bravemaker “Love the Dawnâ€
Really been enjoying the consistent stream of new singles coming from the Bravemaker camp. The latest, “Love the Dawnâ€, is no exception. Excellent low-key indie rock that turns quite rambunctious.Â
Dan Burns – Rainbow Cannons
It’s a real treat to see that Dan Burns – one half of Action!, the occasional drummer for R. Stevie Moore and a whole host of collaborations – has released Rainbow Cannons on Soundcloud for all to enjoy. It’s an electronic affair that weaves between the outright dancey and more ambient Gaze genres. I think “King of West Bay†might be my personal favorite but further listening is required.
Ole Mossy Face – Live From Springwater
It’s only two tracks but these performances from WOTT staple, Ole Mossy Face, properly capture their emotive force. They’re slow songs but they’re excellent companions for your heat-drenched front porch hangouts.Â
Hurts to Laugh “I Meâ€
Did you know there’s a new Hurts to Laugh track? It’s thick and sludgy as one would expect from the outfit.Â
Moreso, did you know the band has very passionate feelings about the new Metallica track? You can read all about that over here. I always enjoy a good rant and this one goes on for quite awhile about their disappointment.
Goth Babe “Dazedâ€
You’ll have to wait until October until the new Goth Babe EP, Shall We, is fully released but you can get a taste of the shoegaze-y goodness by listening to “Dazed†now.
