Internet 101: Managing your Internets

One of the hardest parts about being in a band is not the actual music creation aspect but, rather, managing all of the self promotion that must occur. Entering redundant data into your Myspace calendar, Facebook fan page, twitter account, etc. is enough to drive anyone mad. Fortunately, Web 2.0 is here to help with a lot of that. Enter ArtistData – a beta service that gives bands the ability to keep all that information in one place and let the service proliferate the data to the individual services. Currently, they boast to having the ability to 375,874 different services – an almost incomprehensible amount of sites. Of those thousands they do include the heavy hitters – Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, PureVolume and SonicBid; everything else is just gravy.

Having used the service for only a little while it is tough to make an assesment if it’s the solution to the problem – as other services like Bandize are on the horizon and offering similar services (with a prettier interface and more band-centric management tools). But, for what it’s worth, ArtistData is already offering the service and can get you up and running in no time.
