Brooke Waggoner – Ovenbird

The forthcoming Brooke Waggoner album, Sweven, sounds like it’s going to be the most intriguing release yet. This second preview track, “Ovenbird”, has a mysteriously hushed and beautiful growing vibe to it. It makes the heart ache for unknown reasons. That’s an emotional impact I look forward to more of.

Idle Bloom – Mind Reader

Watch the official video for Idle Bloom’s “Mind Reader” and you’ll get a tour of Nashville complete with memorable buildings, voyeuristic views of natives and tourists and one weird graveyard dance jamout. It’s certainly a weird video but the disgusted looks at the Pedal Tavern passerby’s during the videos final button is worth the viewing. Oh, […]

VOLUME 71 Download MP3 | Stream It Still playing a little catchup on the podcast schedule. This edition contains plenty of great songs from the fall of 2015. As usual, if you enjoy the stream, please dive in to discover more from all of these artists; there’s plenty more goodness in there. Happy Little Trees […]

Volume 71

Download MP3Stream Podcast Playing a bit of catch-up on these podcasts but I am loving pumping them out more regularly. It seems like someone could do this weekly and it would be incredibly fresh. That person won’t be ME but it seems like *someone* could and it’d be a helluva nice archive of new releases. […]

Photo Ops – Vacation

Terry Price, aka Photo Ops, announced that his next album, Vacation, will be released on Bad Friend Records on Feb 5th, 2015. You can listen to the first new track “I’d Be Dead” over on the album pre-order page. It’s got a sweet, forelorn nature to it backed with some appropriate backing strings. Looking forward to […]

Quichenight – War on Christmas

For me, the best Christmas songs manage to blend a bit of melancholy, humor and sweetness. The Quichenight EP manages to fire on all cylinders in that department. “Cookie, Cookie” is sweet and melancholy, while “Gentrifyin’ Santa” is a hilarious funky tale. Overall, the EP is an upbeat undertaking bookended with a little bit of reflection. Excellent […]

Those Darlins “Female Trouble (Divine)”

The good news: Those Darlin’s have released a cover of “Female Trouble” by Divine. The bad news: they’re going on indefinite hiatus and, effectively, are no longer a band. Their Facebook post spells out the details but it sounds like they’re all just ready to move on. They have several great albums behind them and will […]

The By Gods “Miss It”

Another big riff rock track coming in HOT from The By Gods. This is the second song to be released from their forthcoming January release, Get On Feelings. There’s a decidedly 90′s aesthetic to their music but the sincere vocal delivery really makes it work.

EL EL “Kiss Kiss”

The first single from EL EL’s forthcoming 2016 album has been released. I can’t tell if I’ve heard this song before or not but there’s something incredibly familiar about it. Or, MAYBE, it’s just that relatable of a pop song? You know the type.

Bootleg Glory “Booze and Water”

The aesthetic of Bootleg Glory would leave you to believe they are a rawkous country outfit looking to have a good beer swilling time but the music within is much more of a dark, brooding, psych rock or indie pop. Sometimes appearances really can be deceiving. After listening to the above track, be sure to […]

Only - “Giant Sunflower / Stagnant Water”

Despite forming in early 2015, I’ve somehow managed to miss the output of Only; comprised of members of WOTT favorites King Arthur and Echo Group. The latest single release is, hopefully, a taste of a full fledged album in 2016. The music has an 80′s pop tone to it, ala Echo and the Bunnymen or […]
