In case you didn’t catch it on The Cream, JEFF the Brotherhood is getting some serious love lately. Their new Third Man Records 7″ has a video directed by Jo McCaughey and debuted by Rolling Stone. It’s a slow burner but lots of cute gals in perilous situations always makes for a good video.
Codaphonic recently released a short EP of random b-sides and recordings that weren’t destined for a future release. “They’re not doing any good playing in the forest where there’s no one there to hear them, so here ya go!” If you’re a fan of the previous pop stylings of Codaphonic, this should be right up your alley… albeit a bit weirder at times (i.e. “Average Dude”).
The Howling at the Earth EP from Little Viking is a bizarrely effective combination of mid-90’s indie pop ala The Rentals or Supergrass mixed with the occasional outburst of much harder influences. It is quite good and I can’t recommend it enough – especially given that it’s a free download.
