The latest from Makeup and Vanity Set is, for me, his finest yet. While I’ve always appreciated the vibe that previous MAVS releases have had, this one feels the most properly conceived and executed. It may also be that I’m a total sucker for the dark tone contained throughout. The cover art encapsulates the feeling evoked by the music within; a little bit mysterious, foreboding and a tiny of terror thrown in. That all sounds quite grandiose and vague if you haven’t actually listened to the record but once you, you’ll agree.
