If you hadn’t heard, WRVU sold its license to WPLN. The Cream has the full details. If you’ve been paying attention at all this certainly can’t have come as a surprise. A total bummer? Sure. But not a surprise.
But what about WPLN’s angle on the whole deal? Well, they’re currently running a story that covers their side of the story. The basic gist? Loads of public radio stations across the nation have two positions on the radio dial – one for classical music, one for news/talk – they’re just following a winning formula.
WRVU will certainly be missed… now lets just hope the HD3 broadcast and WRFN can fill the void.
Slightly unrelated: I heard the station went off the air repeatedly playing Fields of Gold. Even if this is not true, I will choose to believe it is for the humor and absurdity value of it.
