Though it’s self-described as ambient, the latest from Black Static Line, Enil, is much more immersive and captivating than such a label would lead you to believe. Ambience infers a general vibe or atmosphere created by a particular work – which is true here – but their longform soundscapes demand more attention than just a background feeling. There’s a serious shoegaze and post-rock vibe happening here, particularly with tracks like “Vendue."Â
I can imagine seeing this live is ear-splitting loud and completely encompassing. Just how you should listen to the record, loud.
