AXWY release AXWY

To be perfectly honest, I’d never heard of AXWY until I received an email notification that their debut album has now been officially released. You can get it on iTunes or preview it on their Myspace page. They’ve even got a video for “Loving A Ghost.”

The duo splits their residence between Nashville and LA, a fact that is reflected in the music as I’ve yet to encounter a local band making electronic pop music in this vein. It’s well produced, laid back, atmospheric but is still grounded in pop music essentials. Give it a listen and form your own opinions.. maybe they’ll play a Nashville show sometime.

Superdrag: Owning This Town

wott_superdrag

As promised, the mighty Superdrag are back and have a brand new album for your eardrums. The long-awaited Industry Giants (Superdrag Sound Laboratories/Thirty Tigers) hits shelves on March 17 and John, Tom, Brandon & Don have lotsa goodies for us surrounding its release.

First of, WOTT is proud to offer you an exclusive track from the record. Slow to Anger is an amped-up punk rock anthem that should whet your appetite for what’s to come. Download, turn it up and play it on repeat. Enjoy …and you’re welcome!

On the live front, John Davis and WHIP! (Tom Pappas‘ new rock outfit) will be joining forces to rock The Rutledge on Friday, February 13. Word on the street is that if you show up in a Jason Voorhees-style hockey mask, you’ll receive a free John Davis T-shirt of your choice. I wonder if he’ll honor that Freddy Krueger sweater I have in the back of my closet?

Fast-forward one month and one day, and get ready for the first Superdrag show in these parts since their excellent set at Next Big Nashville back in September. It all goes down Saturday, March 14 at Exit-In, along with Mic Harrison & The High Score. In late March & April they’ll be hitting the road again, heading out to SXSW and then up and down the east coast. Let’s be sure to give them a proper send-off.

Finally, be sure to check out both Lake Fever Sessions & Daytrotter in late March and early April for some killer live jams from Tennessee’s finest.
