This edition of the podcast contains a healthy balance of local favorites and some new faces that should be in regular rotation. Several of the tracks are from unreleased albums that will, hopefully, be available online or at your preferred local record store sooner rather than later.

EP Updates

wott_privates1

Theory 8 just announced that they’ll be releasing the next EP from The Privates. The disc, entitled Motion, will consist of five tracks and should be available no later than April 6th (the record release show is April 3rd at The Basement).

wott_kindercastle

Kindercastle will be releasing a new EP on February 28th and as an enticement for you to come join them at Mercy Lounge (playing with Heypenny and The Young Republic) they want you to get in free. All you have to do is tell them why you deserve free entry. Easy.

Help Holly House Decide

wott_hollycovers

The Holly House Collective is in a bit of a quandry. They’ve been asked to host a show in the Spring in which they collectively cover a seminal album in its entirety but the problem is, they can’t quite decide which one to pick. Keep in mind that something like Lust for Life isn’t very conducive to participation from Caitlin Rose or Tristen and something like Pet Sounds is rife for possible disaster given the enormity of its presence. So they turn to you, Internet Reader, to send them suggestions of the album they should collaboratively recreate.

Getting Awesome

wott_noncomm

Awhile back I heard a rumor that the music from the Make-Out With Violence movie would be released as a double-disc set; featuring all sorts of recordings from the now, mostly, defunct Non-Commissioned Officers as well as a handful of local acts that had crafted songs for the movie. It sounded like a daunting (and expensive) task and while I hoped it to be true, I knew it was a project that could easily end up on the back burner.

Fortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case as the first taste of said soundtrack has been released online (for free) in the form of the Let’s Get Awesome EP; featuring five tracks from the Non-Commissioned Officers and a promise that more is to come. I will personally guarantee you that “Sweet Eleanor” and “No Means No” make your regular rotation playlist.

D-E-M-O, Demonstration

ATR Demo

And The Relatives have started recording their first full-length album and have decided to post some of the demo’s over on their official site. The first (of many, we’re told) is for “Bereavement” – a track that’s been played pretty regularly recently. Granted, it’s a rough demo version but nice to know that progress is being made for longer player from those guys. Go download it.
