Those Darlins go self titled
Received a press release today regarding Those Darlins and their upcoming release. The self-titled album is set for a July 7th shelf date via Oh Wow Dang Records. We’ve got the tracklisting details here if you’re interested but the official cover art is being held under wraps for a moment. Either way, be sure to download “Wild One” for a taste of what’s to come.

Feral Fire on the way
Last week we received word that Glossary had finished recording their followup to Better Angels of Our Nature and are eyeing a September 2009 release on Liberty & Lament. The album, entitled Feral Fire, was recorded in Denton, TX with the bands compadre Matt Pence. While I’ve no doubt that it will be even better than the last album (hard to believe) I am curious if they’ll pursue the Free Download route again.. only time will tell.
There’s also word floating around that frontman Joey Kneiser will be recording a solo album with more Murfreesboro alumni than you can shake a stick at. Find out more details by attending his free show at Liquid Smoke (in M’boro) this Friday.

Road to Bonnaroo: Round 1
If by some chance you had not heard yet, Mercy Lounge has teamed up with BMI and Bonnaroo to present a series of 8 Off 8th shows where one band from each show will play a stage at the 2009 Bonnaroo Festival. Even if the band ends up playing a side stage at an absolutely horrendous timeslot they still will, potentially, be playing to a larger crowd than they could ever imagine at a local venue. Not to mention the resume building power of it all!
Tonight’s lineup (as well as the next two) is unsurprisingly packed with loads of the bigger names in town. If ever there was a show recommendation to make, this is it.
Addendum: Apparently the overall winner of the contest (most total votes?) will also win a free pressing of three hundred 7″ viny from United Record Pressing and 1,000 digital download cards. The deal keeps getting sweeter I suppose.
