The End – 9pm
The five-song epic Lake Fever Session from Superdrag just went live. The performance consists of songs from their new album Industry Giants and you can tell from the first note that despite that vague hiatus they took, they are still an incredibly tight band. The writeup from Joe Baine Colvert is far more eloquent and personal than I could attempt to tackle so I suggest you go take a gander at that while partaking in the goodness of the session.

In anticipation of their upcoming release, Motion, The Privates have re-launched their official website. The band has also launched their very own Bandcamp Profile and are offering up their latest EP for digital download for just five bucks. I’m also told that the back catalog of out of print material will make its way up there soon as well.
The Privates will celebrate the official release of Motion tomorrow night (4/3) at The Basement with The Hotpipes and The Garland Sisters.
Band photography is no simple task. There is loads of evidence to support that a band is more likely to take a contrived, un-imaginative, douche-y photo than they are something that might possibly catch your eye. With that in mind, much respect is to be paid to Joey Ciccoline for consistently turning out worthwhile band photos. His latest batch is for Pico vs. Island Trees and can be viewed here. Hopefully more bands begin to turn to the worthwhile photographers in town for some quality new images.
Not that it’s a competition or anything but Janet Timmons, aka Out The Other, has been absolutely destroying any inkling of a doubt that she’s got the whole “Most Informative Blogger” thing in Nashville locked down. Here’s a sampling of her Twitter posts from yesterday:
WTF Janet!? Leave some for the rest of us why don’t ya? That’s like a weeks worth of news here and you knocked it out in a single day… guess we’ll just have to try harder.

I told the Deagol Brothers that I would post about this tomorrow but I really can’t contain my excitement for it any longer. The soundtrack for their film Make-Out with Violence is now available for purchase on their site. The 2-disc epic consists of 44 tracks and is actually twenty minutes longer than the actual film. The majority of the music was composed and performed by The Non-Commissioned Officers but also features The Glib, Leah High, Tristen, Amanda Crawford, The Ostrich Boys, and Vicki Mead.
2+ hours of music from one film may seem like a lot but having listened to it several times over already I can say that it’s not the least bit daunting, it’s actually entirely enjoyable from top to bottom – a testament to the Non-Comms writing and the effective eerie vibe of the film.
All that being said, I really can not recommend getting a copy soon enough. I’ve had a bootleg copy of a few of the tracks for a couple years and they’ve never left my regular rotation of music – I can’t imagine the full soundtrack making its way into the neglected pile anytime soon.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems that you may not be getting the maximum amount of enjoyment and information out of your Nashville based Internet browsing experience. That is to say, if you aren’t aware of Nashville Mix Tapes, you may very well be having a less-than-optimal time online. The website supposedly serves as a supplement to the Sunday night radio show on WRVU (7pm) but, as far as I can tell, stands on its own as an informative source of new and local music to partake in. Add to that the regular twitter posts going on from Nashville Mix Tapes curator Brandon and you’ve got yourself a well rounded, informative, enjoyable new Internet experience.
