News Rundown

There’s been a deluge of various news recently.. here’s the rundown:

wott_paperroute

Paper Route will be releasing their new album Absence on April 28th. You can watch a mini-documentary about the album here and/or preview the album on their Myspace. The band will be playing Exit/In on May 2nd in celebration of the release.

Janet

If you were not aware of it, Nashville’s own Janet Timmons was on a panel of bloggers at this years SXSW alongside the likes of Coolfer, Brooklyn Vegan, Aquarium Drunkard and several other quality folk. The point here? The entire talk is now available for playback right here and it’s worth a listen to hear the different bloggers and their take on the impact of blogs.

wott_turbo

Turbo Fruits recorded a bunch of stuff with Jeremy Ferguson of Battle Tapes and the first taste of that release will be in the form a 7″ via Fat Possum Records. You can preview the two songs on their Myspace or wait until May 29th to see them at The End with The Tits. Speaking of which…

wott_tits

The full-length release from The Tits, Jesus Says Relax, will be available as of May 7th. They’ll be playing at The Basement with Howlies to celebrate the occasion. You can get the details on the album here and, as usual, preview the new songs here.

wott_romancandle

Roman Candle and The Deep Vibration are going out on tour. The two will be playing Nashville on May 1st at the Dirty Eye Warehouse (it’s in Germantown) in support of their respective releases. Deep Vibration has Veracruz to introduce you to and Roman Candle has a new EP and an album, Oh Tall Tree In The Ear, hitting stores on May 12th.

Ascending Everest

wott_ascent

The Ascent of Everest will be playing this weekend (Sunday, April 19th) at The End with Crippled Black Phoenix as part of their Rise Up and Fight tour and you can be damn well assured that the music will be ‘Epic’ to say the very least.

The whole “post rock” genre is not an easy realm to exist in. There are lots of folks that do it but few that do it without being completely boring after one twelve minute escapade. So with some trepidation I dove into the new split from Ascent of Everest / We All Inherit The Moon and it sounds like AoE have figured out how to keep things interesting. Their two tracks on the EP are sweeping, crescendo laden, string filled journeys that actually don’t spend too much time teasing the listener of what’s to come; they get right into it.

The new split will be available at the show or you can go grab your digital version starting now.

Cursive at Lake Fever

wott_lfs_cursive

According to this post it appears that Cursive will be making a pit stop before their show at Mercy Lounge to record a Lake Fever Session. No word on when that will debut but I’d be willing to bet it’s sooner rather than later.

In other news, looks like there is now a Lake Fever Sessions Blog to add to your list of sites to keep up with. The plan isn’t to keep the posts related exclusively to Lake Fever Sessions items, it should consist of a random cornucopia of goods.

Aaron Hartley ♥’s The Internet

wott_hartleymanages

Aaron Hartley recently submitted a bit of an essay to Artists Paid regarding his tactics for tackling the task of promoting Theory 8 Records. He explains that he’s able to spread his latest news through the power of Tumblr, Twitter and Blip.fm; much more so than posting various news bits exclusively to the Theory 8 site or with mass emails. It’s a worthwhile read to say the least.

Return of Non-Comms

wott_noncomm

In just under two weeks – Thursday, April 23rd to be exact – the Non-Commissioned Officers will return from their hiatus of not playing shows anymore to officially celebrate the release of their 2-disc, 44-track soundtrack to the film Make-Out With Violence. In order to help you remember all the details regarding the show (and movie screenings) they’ve released a number of ridiculous radio promos – my favorite of which is posted below but there’s a bunch more that will, ideally, be popping up on WRVU / WMTS.
