Keeping Up With Nashville

Various items worth taking note of:

  • The Basement is now on Twitter. Follow along.
  • The Rock N Roll Trivia Night at Mercy Lounge was a total success. Turns out they are also on Twitter and will be posting hints about upcoming questions on their feed. Keep up!
  • You wouldn’t assume Keegan DeWitt would put together some great dance mixes but if you check his After Hours blog you’ll see that he does exactly that.
  • Theory 8 Records now has RSS feeds for their news, releases and downloads… well worth throwing some (or all) of those into your favorite aggregator.

This and That

Jonathon Kingsbury has been out on the road with Mat Kearney doing a combination of photo documentation and possibly gathering materials for some forthcoming video. While I don’t count myself as a fan of Kearney’s music (well done, just not for me) I do enjoy Kingsbury’s photo work – and like to see that he’s continuing to rep Nashville in a wider swath. Check the tour blog.

NEVERMIND THE BULLOCKS

My partner in crime at Lake Fever – and the hardest working man in show business – just hit up WOTT with a studio update that I’d like to share with you. From the quiet one, himself:

How you been? Just giving you a brief rundown on the happening here at Lake Fever. We’ve been hard at work recording, mixing, mastering and making videos with our pals at Tugboat Productions. Things have never been busier or better.

I was able to mix a couple of Roman Candle EP’s that you should check out. Mastered by John Baldwin of course, I think they came out amazing. Roman Candle get a truly magnetic home recording sound that makes me jealous. John’s been hard at work on more How I Became The Bomb recordings for their 4th Digital EP release due out soon. They are itching to do some more dates overseas as soon as they get off the no fly list.

I’ve been finishing up the long gestating Luisa Lopez project along with Knoxville outfit The Young which we recorded back in January. Also, Michael Harrell just picked up his final master of his follow up record with Lake Fever which will be coming out very soon also recorded, mixed by yours truly and mastered by John Baldwin.

The other project keeping us up at night are these Lake Fever Sessions. We’re really starting to hit our stride with the recent release of Cursive. Tugboat have done a phenomenal job with putting these videos together. I’d say it’s been a real team effort to give Nashville another high quality way to tout what it is that makes this place special. This would include our 3rd partner Joe Baine Colvert in coordinating these sessions and Michael Eades at We Own This Town in helping with digital implementation and promotion. Hopefully working with national acts like Cursive and Superdrag will help expand the minds of people living outside of this area. All goes well, we’ll have amassed a small army of these videos by the end of the year. They are rolling out every three weeks and we see no signs of that stopping.
