LFS postponement, Ole Mossy Face steps in

The previously mention Lake Fever Session from And The Relatives that was meant to debut today has been postponed until Monday. There are two legitimate reasons for this: 1) Content posted to the web on a Monday gets more exposure than on a Friday and LFS deserves to be seen by more people. 2) Andy Snyder is at the beach and without proper Internet access to upload the videos. Turns out there are vacation spots that aren’t totally Wi-Fi ready.

But fear not – there is great news to share with you today (and tons more next week). We got the heads up that Ole Mossy Face has uploaded two new tracks for free download, as well as their entire back catalog (this site is named for their Calls and Walls song). The new songs were done with Rob Stennett and a bit heavier than their usual fair. I foresee much downloading in my future.

Duraluxe – III

The other day I was trolling around looking for songs for the next edition of the podcast (coming soon) and eventually ended up listening to some Duraluxe – a band I’d been familiar with for some time thanks to Janet but had never been able to drum up their 2002 album The Suitcase, nor was I ever able to decipher any information about a new album. So I did the unthinkable, I just asked the band.

Turns out that Duraluxe has been laying low for some time but they’re about to gear back up into action. And there’s no better way to do that than with an album. Enter, Duraluxe III. The full-length (and previous releases) is available on Bandcamp for free and is a quality dose of rock with smart pop sensibilities. If you manage to not like “Turn The Dial” you might as well not like happiness.

Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg for new Duraluxe news.. I’d love to see how all this holds up live because I can foresee the albums being in a heavy rotation for some time to come.

Tonight! We Own This Tuesday!

wott_popnight

Tonight’s the inaugural voyage of the We Own This Town Tuesdays series at the Mercy Lounge. We kick things off with a free show featuring The Comfies, Codaphonic and This Modern Station. We endorse, support and enjoy these bands a great deal and know you will too. We also happen to think that the three of them playing on the same night should make for an enjoyable dose of pop music. You should come out. You should also tell your friends to come with you. Tonight!

All Grown Up, Free Download

There seems to be a growing trend with new bands putting their records out to the masses for free. I can’t think of a single reason this is a bad idea. Such is the case with Paper Navy and their full-length All Grown Up. You can grab a physical copy (for a limited time) for free at Grimeys and The Groove or just head over to their Bandcamp page and grab the whole thing for free in digital format.
