Resident Millionaire Magician

millionaire_sml

Millionaire Magicians have a residency throughout the month of August at the Springwater. Every Thursday they’ll be bringing their quality blend of energetic pop/rock along with a bunch of other worthwhile bands.

We Own This Town is proud to sponsor the final show of the month – August 27th – where they’ll be playing with other WOTT favorites The Carter Administration, Short Ropes and Caitlin Rose. It will prove to be an evening of extreme quality. Mark your calendar now but rest easy that we’ll be reminding you of it when the time is right.

Call it a Roundup

  • Nashville Cream announces their 3rd Anniversary show – details here but, basically, all you need to know is that The Features will be playing all new material and goodness from Kindercastle and Billy Goat will also adorn your ears.
  • Eliza the Arrow will be revealing a video for “Toast the Tiger” relatively soon.. details coming soon.
  • How I Became the Bomb released Deadly Art.. you can order a physical copy or opt for the digital version. For a limited time, you get both when you order the physical copy so that’s kiinda the better deal. A proper review of this is in order but know that the new versions of “Secret Identity” and “Killing Machine” are worth the price alone.
  • Heypenny released their CopCar EP and there was dancing, painting, music and new costumes. Check the proof.
  • Lylas play Grimeys today in support of their new Do You Believe in Blood? release.

The Nobility – “Gentle Giant”

You gotta hand it to The Nobility when it comes to hefty promotion. The bands forthcoming digital EP, Gentle Giant, is set for full release on August 14th and they have gone as far as to film an entire video for the titular track. Add to that the fact that the video is actually quite good and you can’t deny that these guys are going above and beyond the call of duty to remind you that they’ve got new goods on the way and that you should come celebrate the release this Friday at The Basement. Major credit to Brian Wilson for doing such a bang-up job.

The Features – Lake Fever Session

The Lake Fever Session from The Features has officially launched. The session is comprised of three songs from their re-released Some Kind of Salvation and it is every bit as enjoyable as one would imagine it to be. The songwriting craft and performance chops of these guys has never failed to impress me – not once – and I’ve been listening to them for twelve years. And there’s the rub. Most bands that receive a level of notoriety and success no longer have any hardships to endure and their songs suffer for it. The Features have been through it all – multiple lineup changes, dropped major label recording contracts, full albums recorded and lost into the ether – but their songwriting has not once taken a step back from being entirely fantastic. I hope this session, the re-release of Some Kind of Salvation and the supporting tour take them to a place where they can finally write a bad song; it’s the one thing they haven’t done yet and I think they deserve it.
