De Novo Dahl are slowly restaking their presence on the Interwebs. They’ve got their Bandcamp page (with the City Driver EP you should have already obtained) and now they’ve relaunched their dot com and opened a Twitter account as well. Aaron Hartley, of Theory 8, assures me that there will much free music coming down the pipe if you follow the band on Twitter.. So, with that in mind, get to it!

Yesterday saw the relaunch of PicoMusic.com – the official home of Pico vs Island Trees. Aside from providing a handy place to find show dates, blog posts and other such goings on from the band they launched their own home brewed video series called The Villa Sessions. I’m told Joey Ciccoline is the man behind the camera for the videos and he should be highly commended for his work – it looks fantastic.
As ongoing champion of bands getting the hell off of Myspace and finding new official homes I think this is well worth a few moments of your time and, quite possibly, a bookmark for future viewings. Go check it out.

Starting in February a project called Balcony TV launched here in Nashville. The concept is very simple – get an artist of interest and have them play on an open air balcony of the 9th floor of the Rhythm building. Oddly enough, there are franchises of this concept in Dublin, London, Hamburg and other various European destinations but we’ve somehow managed to land our own here. There are a startling number of performances for something that just officially launched so recently but not so much that you can’t sort through it all and find some gems. I’ve been enjoying this performance from Kingston Springs as well as this one from Majestico.
Give it a whirl, you might just stumble upon something you like.

Keegan DeWitt has provided the score for Aaron Katz upcoming film Cold Weather. You can get a taste of what the film is like by watching the trailer or hitting up The Cream for an mp3 from the closing credits. It seems to be a quiet piece of work on the whole but it’s quite pleasant…
In updating the calendar for the site I stumbled upon Diamondite – a side project from Karl of Bad Cop that will be playing at The Rabbit Hole April 23rd. The slightly experimental / atmospheric sounds are not what I would expect from a Bad Cop side project and it’s that surprise that made it so refreshing. It’s certainly a bit weird but I’d love to exchange some dollars for tunes to show my appreciation for it.
Matthew Putis, aka Makeup and Vanity Set has posted a new EP, JAM BOX, up on Bandcamp for your free listening and downloading pleasure. One new song, one previously released song and one song from his forthcoming self-titled record. Get it.
