Seems like Nashville bands have slowly been making their way up for Daytrotter sessions with a bit more regularity lately. Keegan DeWitt, Ghostfinger and Pico vs Island Trees come to mind off the top of my head and, now, Caitlin Rose can be added to that list. Check out the four song session right here and get yourself a preview of her forthcoming album material. It sounds great and I can only hope this marks a trend of more and more Nashville bands getting the Daytrotter experience.

Planning Your Weekend

There will inevitably be numerous reminders of this on the Twitter but you need to go ahead and plan out your weekend. There really couldn’t be a better way to spend your time than by attending the Candice Burnside Cancer Benefits going down Friday and Saturday. What’s that you say? Who is this Candice Burnside? Well, she worked at Grimeys for quite a spell, is a super nice gal and recently worked her way through some breast cancer treatment. Beyond that, it doesn’t really matter! She’s awesome and you can partake in fantastic rock shows that will benefit a specific individual person. Not a bad deal.

Every New Whole Usual Will Die
In my recent scourings for new, worthwhile, local music I came across The New Whole Usuals. I was a bit hesitant to dive right in because, frankly, the band name screams some sort mid-90’s radio friendly pop band (no offense guys). But those concerns were quickly swept away before the first track, “Ipso Phanto”, had even cleared the halfway mark. Every New Whole Usual Will Die is a collection of very smart, lush and interesting pop songs. They span a nice gamut of styles throughout the record but keep it cohesive with a pervasive layer of strings. Personally, I love all the vocal variety. I look forward to hearing more from these guys but, in the meantime, highly suggest you go get the whole record.
