DiarrheaPlanet: So much to do for DP starting in January! get on the train while you still can! ALOHA EP 7″ out on @evilweevil January 18th!
Right when you think the year is going to finish out without another peep of worthwhile, excitable, information you get an email from a band called QuicheNight and everything changes. Alright, so maybe it is a slow news time but I’m particularly enjoying what I’m hearing from this new band. It is self-described as:
The by-product of Brett Rosenberg’s various pop obsessions, warped by the limitations of 20th Century consumer-grade cassette four-track recording technology.
It’s accurate, a bit self-effacing and intriguing. So, go check them on Facebook, their official site, download the MP3 below and then go see them at The Basement on Jan 3rd.

Continuing on the giving that kicked off yesterday, Battle Tapes (Jeremy Ferguson for those still not in the know) has released Part 2 of his annual Battle Pod Christmas treats. This portion of graciousness comes in the form of a collaborative release with Nashville’s Dead of five sets of live music recorded back in June at The End for the Candice Burnside Cancer Benefit. Nashville’s Dead has the full rundown and links to the sets from Ben Steine’s Money, So Jazzy, PUJOL, Natural Child, and JEFF The Brotherhood.
Pico vs Island Trees bust out their first holiday song.Â
Every year about this time Jeremy Ferguson, aka Battle Tapes, releases some freebies out into the world in the form of the Battlepod. Last years release was a fantastic compilation of Christmas tunes from a nice variety of local artists – a musical gift I figured there was no way he could top this year. However, I’ve been proven wrong once again. He’s, amazingly, decided to bestow numerous releases out into the world this go around. First up, a recently recovered / presumed lost album from Hands Down Eugene, Narceologist. It can be downloaded in its entirety right here, entirely free and you’d be a fool to pass up on it.
Jeremy was also kind enough to include one of the most ridiculous press releases I’ve encountered explaining the story behind the album’s loss and, thankful, recovery. You can read it in its entirety below but I can’t recommend enough that you immediately go download the album.
