Turbo Fruits Daytrotter Session

Daytrotter recently posted the Turbo Fruits session and thanks to a little Cream heads up I am now fully aware of it. I’d say of all the upbeat rock bands that I’ve heard via the Daytrotter archives that Turbo Fruits fit the aural aesthetic better than most. That is to say, stop all your dilly dallying and go listen.

Bows and Arrows and Grand Palace apparently have quite a few physical releases planned for this year but, leading up to that, the band will be releasing a new digital 7″ every week. The first in this series is available now and it’s comprised of two covers – The Zombies and The Beach Boys, respectively. It’s a pretty daunting task to release new music every week but it should be interesting to see if they keep up with it.

Any album tagged on Bandcamp with “casio, rock, crunkstep, lazerblaps, minimalist” and “Nashville” has got to be a rarity. Such is the case with the Sugar Skulls / Hobbledeions split Secret Fugue Machine. Apparently there will be an official cassette tape release of said music at a Grimey’s in-store in late May but you can snag the Sugar Skulls contribution digitally now for free.
