Volume 44

Thanks to everyone for the fanfare on the last podcast edition. Doug assures me that more video podcasts are in the works and will be coming down the pipe before you know it.

In the meantime, I’ve put together another edition of the audio podcast that I’ve no doubt you will enjoy. If you’ve been keeping up with the site you may hear some familiar tunes but there are certainly some new gems in there as well. It also runs a nice varied gamut of rock, psych rock, pop rock, indie rock and other various types of rock. No snoozers.

Casa Castile – Umbra

I’ve given the new album from Casa Castile, Umbra, a number of listens now and keep trying to put my finger on what’s so familiar about it. There is an air about the slightly languid, melancholy vocals that reminds me intensely of something but I can’t pinpoint exactly what that would be. Fortunately, this is a good quality to have – being altogether familiar and new at the same time. The album, on the whole, is a perfectly layered bit of bedroom pop that finds a good balance between it’s more ethereal parts and the moments that demand your attention. I suggest starting with “Desert Cat” but that may just be me.
