Out The Other: The Podcast

Despite the death of WRVU, Janet Timmons – aka Out the Other – will not be prevented from DJ’ing in some capacity! She’s taken her show from the airwaves of 91.1 and directly into DIY podcasting. The first broadcast is available online and it contains all the things you expect from an OtO session – great music, great insight into shows around town and a bit of ridiculous rambling from Miss Timmons herself. And, honestly, it’s even better than the radio format because 1) You can listen to it whenever and 2) if you hate a song, you can simply scrub right past it.

Let’s hope she keeps this going.. it’d be a shame to lose her voice in our community.

The Basement Web Relaunch

Please take a few moments today to go visit the freshly overhauled website for one of our favorite venues – The Basement. They’re a great club, book a ton of amazing shows (i.e. the forthcoming White Denim show) and deserve a web presence that shows that. As of now, they’ve got it. Congratulations to them and congratulations to us for getting such a nice visual upgrade.

Bonnaroo in Polaroids courtesy of Tristen

If, like myself, you did not make it out to Bonnaroo because the concepts of 80,000 people in one place, intense Tennessee heat, mediocre outdoor live performances and squatting masquerading as “camping” all sound terrible individually much less all at once; I completely understand. Fortunately, the Internet can give a tiny slice of life from the events that went down. Stereogum outfitted a bunch of artists with Polaroid cameras and told them to document whatever they felt like.. and they did. Among those artists is our very own Tristen who just so happened to document a good bit of tomfoolery and hanging out shenanigans – much of which included the cast and crew of the Nashville Cream.
