Colorfeels – “Unplanned Holiday”
The fully unpronounceable full-length SYZYGY from Colorfeels is a collection of intelligently dense pop songs. The music falls within the parameters set forth by the likes of Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes and/or Manchester Orchestra but, honestly, that’s lazy journalism. The occasionally soaring vocals find a great space between a heartfelt expression and a dense melancholy – a great combination to have. The album packs a whole lot in but never feels like the band is straying into territory it isn’t comfortable with. These guys seem to come out of nowhere and it’s likely a good idea to keep an eye on them.. pretty sure they could easily take off into much wider audiences before you know it.

Southern is a new project consisting of Patrick Copeland (Everett), Ryan Parrish (Hopesfall, Celebrity) and Ryan Burleson (Embraced, The Sincerity Guild) with help from Aaron Ford (ex- …Trail of Dead, The Sincerity Guild).
“Cahaba” is the first track released from their forthcoming EP. Looking forward to hearing more of this.

The Clutters – “Under Suspicion”
The Clutters – “Run”
Writing a review of the The Clutters latest record seems like an overly obvious thing to do – it’s like asking if you’ve heard the latest from The Features. Of course you have, right? They are one of the most solid bands around town and seem to continue to create rock music the way it should be; memorable, explosive and captivating.
Breaking Bones sees the band branching out into some new territory but not losing sight of their foundations. I’ve long been a fan of Lehmann’s snarling vocals (best in town, easily) and the high-energy that runs throughout their records never manages to disappoint.
Obviously, you should pick up a copy.
