Web Tools
It’s been far too long since I pointed out some handy tools available, for free, to any and everyone to take advantage of. You’d be a fool not to jump on these (assuming they apply to your particular tech situation).
All too often these days when looking for a link to find out more information about a band I encounter an old, abandoned, MySpace profile and not much more. This is unacceptable. If you’re a band and you’re lacking in the web presence you should immediately sign up for Flavors.me – it will allow you to quickly tie together your Bandcamp, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, etc. pages all into one central depot. Exactly what a good website should do – provide routes to find out more on a band. Seriously, if you are a band without a website, get on this – it’s easy and it’s free.
If you’re one of those types of people that records music Gobbler maybe a very handy piece of software for organizing and backing up your endeavors. From what I can tell of the screenshots and descriptions it’s trying to be the iTunes style organizer of recording sessions – a task that few other applications have properly tackled. Add to that the fact that it also backs those files up into an off-site server (The Cloud™) it seems you’ve got no reason not to use it.

This EP from Fox Fun sums itself up in the opening lyrics: “We are Fox Fun / We’re here to have fun / Hope you don’t like us / We heard your Mom will.” It’s somewhat stupid, fun, lo-fi, quite catchy, very loose and all the more enjoyable because of it. There’s a level of poor production that can often be a bit of a detractor from the actual songs but it’s also a clearly signifier that the band you’re listening to is interested in presenting a good time – rather than a polished show-y radio-ready single. Sometimes it is dumb, sometimes it does sound bad but you can imagine they had a good time making it.. and if you’re willing to let yourself, you’ll probably enjoy it as well.

(words by kyle andrews, music by ka and greg burgess) i’m tired of feeling this way
something’s got to change
or something’s gonna break i’ve been liven’ in the space between my ears
petting all the monsters that appear your face is hanging in a frame
in the back of my head, in the back of my skull and it rattles around, rattles around, till all the screws come loose oh no here we go your broken heart ache
steals from the moment
to pay off the shit you started can you forget
the voice in your head
imaginary friend
the voice in your head
you’ll battle till the end i tried so many times
to get away but there’s no escaping at night i close my eyes
and dive into your open arms
but you’re not even there
but you’re not even there oh no here we go your broken heart ache
steals from the moment
to pay off the shit you started can you forget
the voice in your head
imaginary friend
the voice in your head
you’ll battle till the end i can see your face
when i close my eyes
superimposed
on the rest of my life i can see your face
when i close my eyes
i’ll keep you close
i’ll shut them tight
