Today’s a big day in the world of local county, alt-country, sorta-indie-sorta-country outfit Roy Ira. They put their new EP One Day up on Bandcamp for your enjoyment, they’ve posted a tongue-in-cheek / legitimately entertaining Kickstarter campaign (featuring Battle Tapes himself, Jeremy Ferguson) and they’re playing The Basement tonight as part of the D. Striker RR party.

The previously released Challtalk Record Collection Vol 1 from the Echo Group really caught my ear so I was pleased to hear that they’d quickly be following it up with a split 7″ with the equally pleasing Mom & Dad. Both bands will be playing The High Watt tonight in celebration of this vinyl release and I suggest you attend.

Oh, n o i, we hardly knew ya! Turns out the band, for whatever reasons, has called it a day and released Albino Rainbow as their last EP. Aside from losing a quality band in town, the worst part is that this is certainly their finest effort. Granted, it’s only three songs but it’s a great balance of post-rock and whatever you call bands like Jaga Jazzist – nu-jazz? electro-jazzy? Whatever you want to call it, it’s a pleasant listen and it’s a shame that there won’t be more of it.
