Today marks the official launch of new Nashville culture magazine Native. The first issue, physically available at many fine retailers and digitally available here, covers the topics you’d expect such a publication to tackle – music, food & drink, arts, clothing, film and various other forms of entertainment. It’s well put together, feels good in the hand and features a number of We Own This Town favorites; including Tristen as the cover story.

Be sure to pick up a copy if you see it and consider attending their Launch Party tonight at Marathon Motor Works based “Moonbase” venue with Evan P Donohue, Hanzelle, Meadownoise, Blackfoot Gypsies and Coin.

When it comes to hip-hop, I’m not even going to pretend that I have the musical vocabulary to speak on the styles implemented, how a particular album may fit in the grand history of things, influences or any of that. What I can speak to is the enjoyability of a particular undertaking. Welcome to Bohemia is dark, aggressive at times – as exhibited in this video for the title track – but it also manages to be quirky and danceable other times. I’m enjoying what I’m hearing and look forward to more.
