Tetsuo – Goners

Apparently they removed this.. boo.

Tetsuo
Goners
July 19th Release at Exit/In

There’s an exhaustive interview with Tetsuo and The Murfreesboro Pulse that answers just about any question you could possibly have about the band and it’s third record, Goners. So, if you’re interested in that, go read it. If not, lemme tell you that the band is proud of their prolific nature, thinks some of the Nashville Garage Rock scene is bullshit, loves Jason Dietz and is proud of the progression into their third record.. a somewhat softer affair but only relatively so. Definitely a band to keep an eye on as it seems that there will be a new album every year they’re together, at the very least.

Barfly the Musical

I recently found myself revisiting the highly underrated self-titled record from Repent or Forever Be Damned. Frustrated by the lack of information regarding anything concerning the band I shot off an email to the official site assuming it would bounce back. Much to my delight, I received word that a new record was potentially in the works but, in the meantime, I should probably check out Barfly the Musical.

Recorded at RCA Studio B, the album features songs penned by Molly Jamieson and a hefty list of contributors – including David Mead, Butterfly Boucher, Fleming, Lindsay Jamieson and more. My knee jerk reaction might be to shy away from such a list of collaborators but, honestly, it’s an incredibly well conceived, well executed, sometimes beautiful, sometimes hilarious, always interesting kind of record.

The Sufis

Over the weekend a trusted friend of mine posted that The Sufis were Nashville’s best kept secret. Unsurprisingly, I had not heard of them and assumed his claim must be true. I did a little digging and, turns out, they’ve got a self-titled full-length record out on Ample Play (UK) and Burger Records (US). Based on the tracks on their Soundcloud is pretty safe to assume if you’re a fan of 60’s pop-psychedelic numbers you should be diving right in.
