weownthistown: Tomorrow at @GrooveNashville, @Meadownoise release party. “Bring Any Shirt, See It Transformed.” 3pm. Do it. http://t.co/sJH0sXwp
Hopefully this new video for “Another One” from The Features will show up all over the Internets soon but, for now, it’s exclusive to MTV. Did you ever imagine you’d see everyone’s favorite local band dressed up as ragamuffin rodents disturbing a make-out session in a sleazy hotel room? I certainly didn’t but I’m glued to the screen watching it happen.
By Lightning
See You, See Me
Digital Download
Did you know By Lightning’s music was very prominently featured in a Subaru commercial? Well, turns out the song featured – “Future History” – wasn’t actually available for procurement. Until now! See You, See Me contains four tracks, the Subaru soundtrack piece being among them. You should grab it for “Everybody Needs Some Love” – a song that sounds like it came straight out of a 1970’s upbeat children’s show.

Bedroom
Vivid
Free Download
I can specifically remember the first time I heard there was a band in Nashville named “Bedroom” and felt that standard rage regarding bands naming themselves such horribly vague nouns. “Girls” is not a good band name, is it? How is “Bedroom” any better? Well, turns out “Girls” is a good band name and “Bedroom” is just as appropriate as anything else. My insta-anger is unwarranted. The full-length album Vivid has a nice intimate feel to it. Intimate like a good high drifting you off to sleep, not like Sexy Romp Intimate. Staring At The Walls And Being Happy About It kinda vibe. I mean all these things in a complimentary way. Turn off the lights, zone out and enjoy.
Meadownoise
It’s 4:00
Record Release this Saturday, Aug 25th, at The Groove, 3pm
As stated above, Meadownoise will release It’s 4:00 this weekend with a celebratory party at The Groove starting at 3pm. Later that evening the brainchild of Mr. Glassmeyer will head over to The Building (behind Drifters) and play another full set. The packaging for the album is a completely custom, die-cut, CD + 7″ + Download combination that I’ve never had the pleasure of interacting with before.
All and all, that’s a good summary of Meadownoise in general. There’s something familiar to the basic elements but there’s also something altogether new and genuine throughout the record. It’s actual art. I know that’s a debatable term and Meadownoise may not seem like your first choice to apply it to but go back and watch the videos for Mousey and, now, This Machine and Me. You can tell it’s the expression of an artist just enjoying themselves creating – a vibe that I’d love to see more people strive for.
tl:dr version: Meadownoise is releasing a unique bit of music tucked inside a unique bit of packaging. Make an effort this weekend to support it.

Screen Door Records Compilation
Free Download
I know next to nothing of Screen Door Records. What I do know is that they’ve got Echo Group and Joy Of Painting on their roster; two WOTT favorites. So, purely by association I’m assuming the rest of the bands are worth a listen. If you like what you hear, hit up The End on August 30th and 31st for a full-on takeover featuring a whole slew of enjoyable Nashville bands.
Griffin Technology loves music, because we are a company filled with musicians. We figure it’s high time we showed off a little, with an evening of music by bands that all feature at least one (and sometimes more than one) member of our Griffin family.
