Nahnee Bori – “Iditarod”

Nahnee Bori is the solo undertaking of Cody Uhler. When he’s not performing in Kindercastle, collaborating with Uncle Skeleton or dabbling in any number of other various projects he’s working under the moniker Nahnee Bori. His first album, Lotic Prattle, was an exploration of nature inspired / ambient / electronic soundscapes. It’s good but not what you’d call Pop music, per se. Now he’s released a track from his forthcoming full-length, Place. If “Iditarod” is any indication of the contents of the full album the style and genre has shifted quite dramatically – albeit experimental and interesting, it’s definitely more rooted in pop music.
Full disclosure: my label experiment, yk records, has put out the single and will be handling duties for the full-length as well. So, yea, I’m biased but I honestly think it’s well worth your time to have a listen.

Stay Home America Series
Milktooth takes on another surprising cover track for their Stay Home America series – this time with Kavinsky track “Nightcall” – best known for it’s appearance on the Drive soundtrack (or on Chancellor Warhol’s last record). Let’s hope they keep these coming.

Nashville Nonfiction
Occasionally I like to stretch out just a little bit beyond the world of discovering new music and point out other creative endeavors in the Nashville area well worth taking note of. Such is the case with Nashville Nonfiction, an ongoing stream of short documentaries celebrating a wealth of artists, business folk, and creative types around the Nashville area. Their pieces on the Jackalope Brewing Company and Bobby’s Idle Hour should be more than enough to convince you to keep an eye on their future offerings. I know it did for me.
