For me, there’s something inherently enjoyable about 8-bit / chiptunes music that supercedes talent. Even if a song is bad, it’s interesting because it was made with such limited tools. Fortunately, the work of Joshua Morse isn’t just interesting because of how it was made. The songs are engaging and surpass the novelty angle you’d suspect most videogame inspired music would. (Okay, some parts of “Star Weaver” crack me up but that doesn’t mean I don’t legitimately love the energy and homage aspect of “Turtle Dance 2”).

What’s the best way to use a spare bedroom? Record some new demo’s for your band of course! Will these tracks end up being fleshed out Bows & Arrows songs? Maybe. Is it interesting to hear the creation process? Absolutely. Love “Easy Song.”

The Lonely Biscuits – “Johnny Boy Ghostin'”

I’m going to be perfectly honest with you, I’ve never heard of The Lonely Biscuits prior to this post and their style of groove-y, rap-esque, soulful, smooth delivery is not something I’m normally prone to. But here’s the thing – the video won me over. It’s silly, it’s fun and it’s well made; so they kinda won me over. They actually have a ton more to watch as well, if that’s your thing.

So, yea, it’s weird to post about music that you’re not 100% into but it’s good to peek outside your normal bounds every once and while. These guys are doing a good job with their style and I think more bands could take note on the abundance and quality of their videos.
