Remember that 8 Off 8th that was comprised entirely of bands that existed only for that one night? Well, one of those creations was Nest Sects – with members Mike Sheperd (Tower Defense), EG Cameron (Forget Cassettes) and Matt Glassmeyer (Meadownoise). Above is one of the songs from their set.. kind of a shame they only existed for that one evening.
What else did I miss that night?
Murfreesboro has always been a hotbed of musical activity. There’s an ebb and flow to the level of activity coming out of the college town but there’s always something worth paying attention to. Jason Dietz has been working with recording bands from the area for the better part of a decade and can attest to the quality that’s always present. So, when I saw that he was raising funds for a compilation I knew something good was in store. He’s planning on recording a bunch of bands and distributing the physical discs for free. Getting the word out about music is often the hardest part of being a musician… so, contributing to such an endeavor from such a trustworthy (and reliable) source is a phenomenal way to spend your dollars. Go read more and contribute.
