Meadownoise – “Get Back at My Girlfriend”

“Get Back at My Girlfriend”
It’s 4:00
This is one of the weirder tracks from It’s 4:00 but has always been a personal favorite. I think I like the strange internal ruminations vibe of the whole thing – particularly the observation that girls don’t like boys who sit on one leg.
Remember Meadownoise plays The Stone Fox on Friday with Fly Golden Eagle and James Wallace and The Naked Light. A solid lineup if ever there was one.

CHARGES – EP 1

I’m cheating a little bit here but bear with me. CHARGES is the latest undertaking from Jay Leo Phillips, whom you may remember from Apollo Up! and his time in Forget Cassettes. This EP is an incredibly enjoyable dose of hypercharged rock influenced equally by the likes of Elvis Costello, Faraquet and something heavier but still appealing to that catchy pop portion of your brain. So, how is this cheating? Technically it was released while Phillips was living in Heidelberg, Germany. Not exactly Nashville, TN but given that he was a staple of the scene before he left and will likely play shows again in some capacity I’m giving myself a pass.

The last official release from Forget Cassettes was in 2006 with their incredibly full-length Salt. There was the Eliza the Arrow offshoot project but, to my knowledge, that never produced a publicly full-length record. All this is not to complain, more artists should take their time to make something meaningful, but rather just to point out that it’s good to hear new material from EG Cameron; particularly with a promise of two new EP’s and a full-length following during the next three months.
O Cursa I is a departure from the previous endeavors. Cameron’s powerful-yet-vulnerable voice is still ever present but there’s a new, dark, electronic tone to the three new tracks. It’s a departure from the quiet-to-loud bombastic guitar and drum combo you may expect from the band but it’s a nice growth to the overall palette.
