Tom Skinker – Self-Titled

Quick! Without looking up any additional information – tell me what year this album of Seriously Classic Rock Songs from Tom Skinker comes from? Did you say mid-70’s? Did you say it was an semi-ironic contemporary album recorded in the late 00’s? Or did you say it was an honest-to-god endeavor recorded from the mid-80’s to the mid-90’s? That’s the one. Maybe “Tom Skinker” is a name from Rock History I should be more familiar with and I’ll have egg on my face once the full story is revealed to me but, in the meantime, I’m just going to enjoy these tracks. Legitimately.

The fact that the cover art of 7.25.2148 depicts an isolated lonely road is a great indication of what you’re getting into. This is one of MAVS more dark soundscapes with just a tiny light at the end of the tunnel with the end tracking “Praxis.” I guess we just need to wait 135 years to find out exactly what movie picks this up as a soundtrack – it’s going to be a spooky one.
