Have you tuned in to Critter’s Galaxy

yet? Conceptually, it’s an interview show with local bands – plain and simple. In execution, it’s like Wayne’s World raised on Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show (Great Job). It’s obviously coming from a place of passion but it doesn’t shy away from being intentionally awkward. That’s not a bad thing.

There are fourteen episodes at this time and they manage to talk to a strong list of artists: Turbo Fruits, Birdcloud, Promised Land, Ducko McFli, and Torres among them. Hopefully this is ongoing and continues to spiral down the rabbit hole.

New from Rales

comes This EP – a collection of four songs presumably from the same sessions as a forthcoming full-length (that’s a total assumption). It’s lovely indie pop with just the right twinge of melancholy; my favorite combo.

Welcome to the new We Own This Town. We’re now powered by a multitude of community tools – Tumblr, Songkick, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Twitter, etc – that will enable us to have content coming from more places but also reach a wider audience. That is, after all, sort of the point, right?

The new address – blog.weownthistown.net – was put in place to ensure that the years of music news, show listings, rumors, celebrations, tragedies and more at the original address were retained on the Internet. We’re here to spread the good word about Nashville area music but we also consider ourselves a bit of archivists. It’d be a shame to lose posts from as far back as 2005.

There’s plenty more work to do to get things up to full speed but we’re at a good jumping off point. Please, continue to visit weownthistown.net for news, music and show listings – or just follow us on Tumblr. Here’s to easier posting and, hopefully, future contributors.
