Joshua Morse – VLAD

In celebration of Halloween week I’m going to try to post some stuff this week that, thematically, makes sense. Joshua Morse does a great bit of chiptune and videogame music but this particular EP is themed around Castlevania – the Nintendo classic aimed at hunting down the king of vampires. It’s a fitting mix and a fun listen. Available via GameChops.

Meadownoise – “Hair Just So”

What’s this? A new Meadownoise track? And a promise of new music being released more regularly over the coming months? Yes, Please!

The song is a slow build with that melancholy introspection tinged with  humor and a bit of tension that Mr. Glassmeyer does so well.

Sexx – Surf City

I’m kind of a sucker for loose, raucous rock songs that still manage to give a hat tip towards some anthemic chorus. This has a nice sloppy swagger to it and a helluva good band name.

Eagle Meth – Next Level Shit

I dunno what the previous level is but this Next Level is certainly interesting. What’s that on the cover? A slug priest holding a three eyed cat while journeying through a field of psychedelic mushrooms? Yes, definitely. To be completely honest, I’ve no idea what I’m listening to but I do know if you played this during your Halloween party you will terrify your friends and potentially drive them to literal madness.

Makeup and Vanity Set – Manifold

Available for pre-order now and full release on Oct 25th is the latest from Makeup and Vanity Set, Manifold. The EP serves as a soundtrack to the short film of the same name by Anthony Scott Burns. Most importantly, it continues the ongoing progression of MAVS ability to craft some seriously foreboding and incredibly eerie soundscapes.Â
