Making good on his promise to release new music in regular intervals and to promote his Wednesday Dec. 4th show at The Stone Fox with Stone Jack Jones , Meadownoise unleashes The Bats Have Come Now. Love the song and the video features the most precious singer.. not to mention undeniable proof of Glassmeyer’s solitary creation style.
Poly – “Fishin” Live at Fanny’s House of Music
I love this band.Â
Hammock – Oblivion Hymns
Did you see Gravity? Do you struggle with the size of the Universe and the somewhat futile nature of our existence? Do you want to hear something beautiful while imagining being blown to tiny atom sized bits? I’m not being flippant – this is what you would listen to if you were dying in a space shuttle. It has a feeling of enormity but still intimately personal. I guess if you’re going to call your album Oblivion Hymns you better bring the right music to back it up.. Hammock nailed it.
Fond Object + Welcome to 1979 + Black Friday
It’s Black Friday and you should be making an effort to visit each and every record store in town. If you’re an artist, you should be lining up over at Fond Object to take advantage of this great opportunity:
Welcome to 1979 will be recording acoustic performances. Artists are invited to bring their instruments, be inspired by the atmosphere, and record 2 songs on analog tape. These recordings will be entered in a drawing, where the winner will be able to join us at Welcome To 1979 as their songs are cut on a 7 inch vinyl record (technically called a lacquer master). Each artist will be able to pick up a CD of their recordings from us at Welcome To 1979 as a thank you for participating.
Even if you don’t win, I bet you can convince them to give you the two songs for release on your own!
Magnolia Sons – My Favorite Season / The Christmas Joy
Thanksgiving has ended, let the Christmas onslaught begin. Magnolia Sons bears the first  treat of the season with this free download.
Jensen Sportag: Stealth of Days
Jensen Sportag: Stealth of Days
In a dance music scene striving for experimentation, Nasvhille electronic duo Jensen Sportag’s debut album Stealth of Days is a sonic hybrid that stands out for its audaciousness.
Nice to see Jensen Sportag reviewed by Pitchfork!Â
Blackbear + The Surf Bums – Soft Kisses in the Rain
Some soft, jangly, Brit-twinged pop songs for your Friday enjoyment. Probably best enjoyed poolside or looking longingly out a window while it’s raining.Â
Those Darlins – “In The Wilderness”
Another video from the latest Those Darlins record, Blur the Line. There’s some drug addled peep show vibe to it.. which is to say, it’s an enjoyable viewing.
See also: The Ettes peep show styled video. Let’s hope this is an emerging trend!
Gay Vibes – “Good Time Island”
Holy shit, this Gay Vibes video is great. No caveats about it – this is just solid, entertaining, engaging film work through and through.Â
The song is from the debut full-length, My Baby’s Got Worms, that I’m diving into right now. If that video is any indication of the greatness within, it’s a real treat. Full review after consumption.
24HR Records presents Elephant Chords
The official Made In Network summarizes 24HR Records as a full-day challenge between 3 musicians from 3 different bands to write and record as many songs as possible in the time allotted.Â
Episode 1 takes Lindsay Jamieson (Elle Macho), Robert Gay (VITEK) and Kevin Whitsett (The Flea Marketeers) and combines them into Elephant Chords. I love Jamieson’s voice and look forward to hearing these songs in their full-length versions.
24HR Records takes 3 musicians from 3 different bands, and challenges them to write and record a number of songs in 24 hours
Wayne Mosh – We Don’t Like Tigers
I’ve previously mentioned the work of Wayne Mosh, the somewhat freeform undertaking of Jason Moore. This EP, We Don’t Like Tigers, is a bit less manic but still every bit as fun. It’s good to see a musician stop overthinking their work and just indulge themselves.Â
Tristen – No One’s Gonna Know
Hot off the presses – and a New York Times exclusive premiere – the new video from Tristen’s C A V E S is now available for your viewing pleasure. If you haven’t heard the record yet, let this be all the motivation you need.
