We Own This Town Archive now on Mixcloud.

Over the break I happily finished archiving all of the previous We Own This Town podcasts over to a Mixcloud account. You can now hear 63 installments of local rock, folk, electronic and other odds and ends ranging back to September 2005. Granted, there’s a little bit of a void after May 2013 but a good time capsule is a good time capsule.. and I’m confident this is a helluva time capsule.

The other upside to this is that I can’t end making podcasts on 63 – that’s just too odd of a number. Expect more!

Battlepod #8

I love the Battle Tapes Christmas podcast, Battlepod. This years edition – featuring Tristen and Hands Down Eugene – is no different. Great music and amusing interstitial’s, what more do you need?

SEXX – SEXXMAS

Atypical Christmas songs are always a treat this time of year. SEXX put together these two tracks for a snarly, punk-infused, good time. I love hearing a chant proclaiming the immortality of Santa Claus – fine words to remember this time of year.

Andrew Combs “Foolin’”

The first single from Andrew Combs 2015 full-length album All These Dreams is now available in the form of “Foolin’.” If this Skylar Wilson / Jordan Lehning produced track is any indication, that album is going to be a good one.

Rock Paper Scissor – The Mouth Trumpet Christmas Album

I’ve posted this many times before and, if all goes well, I’ll post it many times again. This is the best and only Christmas album you need. I imagine these mouth sounds were toiled over for weeks on end because the end result is absolute perfection.

Here’s the thing, I’m not overselling this. Yes, I’m using way too many italics but there has never been, nor never will be, a great compilation of Mouth Trumpet Sounds performing Christmas Classics.

Anchor Thieves “Relapse”

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Anchor Thieves and their previous release, Malefactors, but they’re backwards! This time, with two new songs continuing to carry the torch of fuzzed out pop-rock.

Nahnee Bori – Mr. Man

I fully admit it’s a bit of a stretch to post the latest album from Nahnee Bori as a Nashville project but bear with me – it’s a damn fine album. The artwork from Rachel Briggs really helps to sell the idea that the music within is being orchestrated from some otherworldly place. It’s childish but it’s also chaotic and a bit weird. It fuses the styles of his previous two albums quite well – finding the balance of experimental & ambient with pop sensibilities.

Is it a bit weird? Yea, it can be. But it also has moments that I think that are legitimately beautiful.

All Them Witches – Live

When you’re known for having a big, immersive, wall-of-sound, ear bleeding style rock show, it behooves you to release some live renditions of your songs to remind people what they’re missing if they’re not coming to see you. All Them Witches took it one step further and just released fifteen live shows on their Bandcamp site. The studio stuff? Nowhere to be found. You snooze, you lose. Same goes for these recordings I’m sure – get them while you can. Who says the Internet can’t have some scarcity?
