Just in time for the end of the month comes the latest from V to Z. This one is particularly, appropriately, creepy.

I am a dedicated fan to all things Dave Paulson and my fandom remains unwavering after hearing this first track from his forthcoming release (under the moniker NORM I assume but maybe not?)

Lots of great releases came out of Cassette Store Day 2015 but I was the most taken by this split release on BURGER Records featuring Daniel Pujol and Chris Crofton. It’s an oddly effective mixture of paranoia from both parts and you can hear the whole thing here.

This Quichenight odds and ends mixtape only has one available song at the time of this posting - “There Is a Time” featuring Tristen – and if it’s any indication of what the rest of the release is like, it stands the chance of being the best thing from Quichenight yet. It’s tough to say that about a compilation but I’ve got high hopes.

I truly believe that, every so often, one should berate themselves with some honest-to-goodness hardcore metal. Giant sluggy riffs, vocals screamed in a way that convince you the end is near and drums that pound unrelentingly are a nice reminder of the kind of Real Fucking Power music can have. Mental Collapse checks all those boxes and manages to never veer into eye-rolling ridiculousness. It’s a sincerely guttural attack that comes with the unescapable need to clench your first when listening.

The second full-length album from Promised Land Sound has a much more laid back sound than I previously had them filed under. Jangly guitars, earnest vocals with just the hint of melancholy and maybe even a dash of Tom Petty influence underlying in there. Rather enjoying the full album and 

I’m all for a novelty Halloween song but a collection of Halloween themed beats?! Oh yea. These two genres need to intersect a whole lot more often. Thank you Brer Sunshine. 

There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to BLVCK PØW∃Я – are they a Nashville band or are they, as they claim, a Danish outfit creating Witchhouse jams? Is this a one off project or a legitimate endeavor that we’ll hear more from later.

What we DO know is that they’ll be playing at this Dark Daze party on Halloween proper so you can find out for yourself.

What we can ASSUME is that Seth Gravy’s name is on that WIX site and the bonkers character naming for the band is similar to his own G▲Y ▼IBES project. Maybe I’m going out on a limb here but feels like there could be a connection.
